To Live or To Love?

Would you die for love?

In Pakistan, more and more women are choosing to defy their parents and family by choosing to run away and marry on their own.
Risking their honor and even their life.

A recent article on HuffPost talked about Nustrat Mochi, now 25, who eloped with her husband four years ago. They have since moved twice and has kept the location of their homes a secret to escape threats to their lives and their two small children and even a kidnapping charge against her husband.

Another article from The Express Tribune reported that a couple, Almas Khan and Shamim Akhtar, were killed in Chakwal, Punjab, over the weekend of Id al-Fitr, the holiday ending Ramadan. Ms. Akhtar’s father had filed a kidnapping case with the police after the couple eloped. The family contacted their daughter and her husband, saying the pair would be forgiven if they returned. When they complied, they were shot and their bodies strung from a tree.

In England, Shafilea Ahmed, 17, was killed by her own parent…

Earth Dreaming

“At night I dream that you and I are two plants that grew together, roots entwined, and that you know the earth and the rain like my mouth, since we are made of earth and rain.”                                     ―Pablo Neruda,Regalo De Un Poeta/ Gift Of A Poet

Social Media Must

In this day and age where you are what you eat, say, do, think and put as a status in Facebook, it is good to learn some social media etiqutte.

Whether you are posting a successful first date or an end to a disastrous relationship, we must always remember to be careful not to "overshare".

Zoosk recently held an online survey on Americans’ thoughts on social media etiquette when it comes to sharing romantic moments on sites such as Facebook and Twitter.  For more information,  go to this site.

The Luckless Writer

It is difficult to live a boring life.

More difficult if you are a writer.

Yes, I am a writer.  But a lot of people do not realize that writing is a difficult process for me, especially as I am always at loss for things to write about.

A very good friend of mine, and an avid follower of my blog once quipped "You should write more often.  Tell us more about your life."

She's married by the way and always thought mothering and housework as boring. Oh, if only she had stayed single long enough to find it bland, repetitive and tiresome.

What she doesn't know is that:
"I do not live an interesting life.  I only know interesting things."

Or to better put it, I make things look interesting.

And I have always lived up to the saying:

Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing. ~ Ben Franklin

I try to liven up my days by people watching and making strange conversations.  Truly, a boring if not downright unexciting process. Thank God that I have a gift…

Smart ass

Found this at home.

Guess this is the reason why we are all such "smart ass".

I just hope that public restrooms also have this.  So time spent there won't feel like such a waste.

What do you think?

Shouts of joy!

Saw this picture and decided that it's a good advice to give everyone. Well, everyone except those who hate rides :-)

The Play on Plagiarism

Wikipedia defines Plagiarism as the "wrongful appropriation," "close imitation," or "purloining and publication" of another author's "language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions," and the representation of them as one's own original work.
And this is what Mr. Sotto did.Plain and simple.
Various networking sites seized on it and talked about it for weeks.
Even Illustrado’s author Miguel Syjucogave a piece of his mind on Sotto in a New York Times article:
Mr. Sotto forcefully denied responsibility rather than confessing and offering an apology. When Ms. Pope blogged her dismay at being plagiarized, the senator declared on Filipino TV: “Why would I quote from a blogger? She’s just a blogger.” His chief of staff, Hector Villacorta, told reporters that blogs aren’t copyrighted, governments are exempt from copyright laws, and parliamentary immunity protects the senator. Besides, the Philippines “plagiarized the U.S. Constitution,” he said. “Even our…

Listen: The One That Got Away - Katy Perry (Cover by Tiffany Alvord & Chester See)

I've always thought that this song should be done in duets.  And I am right.

This is so much better than the original.

Enjoy!
