Single and Must Love Dogs

I know that spinsters have always been associated with cats and this shirt says it all.

Personally, I am more of a "must-love-dogs" person.

I've recently read an article that says that more and more singles are getting pets "as they look to fill a sense of love and family in their lives".

In fact, this article further states that in US alone from 2006 to 2011:

  • Pet ownership among divorced, widowed and separated adults grew by 17.7 percent, from 51.3 to 60.4 percent.
  • The number of single men living alone with pets increased by 27.7 percent, from 34.3 to 43.8 percent.
  • The number of single women living alone with pets increased by 22 percent, from 46.8 to 57.1 percent.
Interesting right?

And I have also discovered websites catering to pet lovers looking for love or just waiting to be found.

And if you do not believe me, why not check these out?

http://www.youmustlovedogsdating.com boasts of being the FIRST niche website designed specifically for singles who love dogs. This site claims to have over 2 million dog lovers who are looking for someone just like them – a loving, caring human being who feels life isn’t complete without a tail wagging, furry friend.

http://mustlovepets.com, according to their site, is the premiere pet finder destination for meeting and/or dating quality animal lovers who are single and seeking a sincere relationship with other dog lovers or cat lovers.

And one that's called http://www.datemypet.com.  I will leave you to ponder and find out whether this is really more about the pets than their owners.

I am tempted to list a lot of other sites but I know that with the right motivation and need, you can certainly search better :-)

So there's certainly a chance that it won't be a lonely and miserable existence alone with our pets.  Sometimes, they can even lead us to love.  Goodluck!

The English Patient

There are movie lines...

And then, there are "the movie lines"

The English Patient is one of my all time favorite movie.  It stars the oh-so-mysterious Ralph Fiennes as Count Almasy (who incidentally is also a real person).

It is based on a novel of the same title by Michael Ondaatje (which is also one of my fave writers).

Michael's writing can be described as "imaginative and whimsical."  He likes to write stories about the ravages of war and the interesting people living it.

He also writes about relationships and betrayal.
"Betrayals in war are childlike compared with our betrayals during peace. New lovers are nervous and tender, but smash everything. For the heart is an organ of fire." And of course, love.

This movie has "the movie lines" to die for.

Almasy to Katherine:  "Swoon, I'll catch you"
If only this statement can be trusted. If only guys are all like this in real life.

Singapore

Singapore is so much like Makati -- tall buildings, fast people & talkative Filipino yuppies. Not so much sights but then again, we were there to overspend on pasalubongs and go retail shopping. I don't want to brag, but between here and Manila, Manila wins hands down (on my own standards). :-)

Our hotel was located at Orchard Rd. and it has (thankfully) Starbucks at the groundfloor. We went down one night only to realize that coffee (as with cigarrettes) is so much more pricey there.

Athough, I must say, the air is worth breathing and the streets are super clean. Thank God for countries who respect the rights of non smokers to nice, clean air.

March 8: International Women's Day

International Women's Day is celebrated across the world on March 8th each year. The day is about celebrating the vital role women play in enhancing economic security for their families, communities and countries as a whole while recognising that significant barriers to achieving women's economic security and equality continue to exist.

Just want to share this quote to all the ladies out there:

A man wears the pants in a relationship but the woman tells the man which pair to put on.
